RAJA RAVI VERMA

Walking through the hallowed room where the legendary painter Raja Ravi Verma once splashed the canvas with vivid colors and created some of his best master pieces, was the concept behind the renovation/ rebuilding of his studio.

The painstaking work of documenting the structure with all its details and nuances helped in the complete rebuilding of the studio. A single storied wood truss roof was duplicated using metal structure and cladded in old Burma teak and having earthen tiles as roofing. The inside walls were plastered using the ancient lime mixed cement plaster keeping the exterior in the exposed brick form. A new tourist spot is now part of the lush Laxmi Vilas Palace campus.
